Overview
Following its acquisition by PNE Group, WKN Windcurrent South Africa entered a significant period of transformation as it transitioned to PNE South Africa.
A change of name is far more than a visual exercise. It requires careful communication, stakeholder reassurance, and a clear narrative that preserves trust while introducing a new brand identity.
Quantum Studios was appointed to support the rebrand rollout through strategic communications, public relations, digital marketing, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring the transition was communicated with clarity and confidence.
The Challenge
Corporate acquisitions and rebrands present unique communication challenges.
While the business evolves, stakeholders often seek reassurance that core values, relationships, and commitments remain unchanged. Existing customers need confidence in the transition, prospective clients need clarity on the new brand, and key stakeholders must understand the strategic direction behind the change.
PNE South Africa required a communications strategy capable of:
- Explaining the transition from WKN Windcurrent to PNE South Africa
- Maintaining trust and continuity among stakeholders
- Increasing awareness of the new brand identity
- Engaging landowners and farming communities
- Supporting visibility among potential customers and industry partners
- Establishing a consistent and credible voice throughout the transition period
The challenge was not simply announcing a name change. It was managing perception during a significant corporate milestone.
Our Approach
We developed a structured communications programme designed to support the rebrand from multiple angles.
The strategy combined content marketing, public relations, paid digital campaigns, and community engagement to ensure consistent messaging across all touchpoints.
Content was developed around key themes including continuity, organisational values, industry expertise, stakeholder relationships, and the opportunities created through the transition to PNE South Africa.
Alongside ongoing communications, targeted public relations initiatives were developed to create awareness around the rebrand while positioning the organisation as a trusted contributor within South Africa's renewable energy sector.

The project demonstrates the importance of strategic communications during periods of organisational change, ensuring that a rebrand becomes an opportunity for growth rather than a source of uncertainty.
Why It Matters
Successful rebrands are not driven by logos alone. They are driven by communication.
When organisations undergo acquisitions, mergers, or significant brand transitions, stakeholder confidence becomes one of their most valuable assets. Strategic communications help organisations navigate change, preserve trust, and build momentum for the future.
By combining public relations, content strategy, digital marketing, and stakeholder engagement, businesses can ensure that major transitions are understood, embraced, and positioned for long-term success.
